Can't Take My Eyes Off of You Lyrics

You're just too good to be true
Can't take my eyes off of you
You'd be like heaven to touch
I wanna hold you so much
At long last love has arrived
And I thank God I'm alive
You're just too good to be true
Can't take my eyes off of you

Pardon the way that I stare
There's nothing else to compare
The sight of you makes me weak
There are no words left to speak
But if you feel like I feel
Please let me know that it's real
You're just too good to be true
Can't take my eyes off of you

I love you baby and if it's quite alright
I need you baby to warm a lonely night
I love you baby trust in me when I say
Oh pretty baby don't bring me down I pray
Oh pretty baby now that I've found you, stay
and let me love you baby, let me love you

Donna Nietche and Her Super Race of Kick Boxing ber Parrots Lyrics

Would you like a drink of water
From the fountain of youth?
Can I show you a laughing statue
And a magic mirror?
Down dubious halls, passed fatuous faces
We'll follow coloured lanterns to distant
Doorways and rooms

There are joke-shop ink spills and cinema snow
Hollow novels containing guns and flasks
Dwarves and winged horses
Costumes and masks
False mustaches and noses
Artificial roses
Tall stories and truthful admissions
Prophecies, dreams, and visions
Jack-in-the-boxes , flip books
And pictures in the air
Anything that I can think of
You'll find in here

But don't ask me to explain
Everything
Not everyone accepts the invitation to
Come inside
But if you like a good mystery
You'll enjoy the ride

Evangeline Lyrics

She's speaking like a gibbering foreigner
Got a cripple in her clutches
Seems to float like a gaudy angel on strings
Over wheel chairs and crutches
I came to check it out, have a laugh or two
But I'm caught up in the fury and wonder
I watch the leg of the fat lady next to me
Grow several inches longer

There are rumors about the bank account,
Affairs and double dealings
But faith sneaks up like a mischievous child,
And you find yourself believing
I could be deceived, but I believe
That I just got a healing from

Evangeline
Evangeline
(don't know what's really there inside of her)
Revival queen, Evangeline
(does a miracle occur somehow in spite of her?)

Now the tent sags in the Texas heat
As she works the crowd into a frenzy
And an old man's rolling on the sawdust floor
In the throes of the demon of envy
And the organ music swells and the choir sings
An off-key Amazing Grace
Despite the body odor and the Texas flies
There's not a dry eye in the place

With hands in the air and eyes to heaven
I find myself agreeing
With each lost sinner in the place,
And every word Evangeline is screaming
I could be deceived, but I believe
That I just got a healing from

Evangeline.....

Understand me, I'm not a gullible man
And I'm self-possessed--
Take pride in keeping my wits
I'm saying things like amen and hallelujah--
Words, that until this very moment have never
Crossed my lips

When all is said and done,
It doesn't make much difference
If she's sincere or deceiving
She may not possess the faith she inspires
Or know the One that I'm receiving
I'm on my knees and I believe
That I just got a healing through

Evangeline
Evangeline
(don't know what's really there inside of her)
Revival queen, Evangeline
(does a miracle occur somehow in spite of her?)
Evangeline
Evangeline
(don't know what's really there inside of her)
She plays a mean tambourine
(does a miracle occur somehow in spite of her?)
Evangeline
Evangeline
Evangeline

Get into the Bus, Aloha Lyrics

Last night I dreamt Aloha was floating,
Hanging like a picture in the skies over
New Jerusalem

Get back into the bus, Aloha
Back into the bus, Aloha baby
Get into the bus, Aloha
Hula if you must, but get back into the bus
Aloha baby, Aloha baby mine
Aloha baby, Aloha baby mine

You say a band plays inside your head
to the praise filling up your heart
You say you're dancing for the glory of God

But you leave me in the dark, Aloha
Do you want to break my heart, Aloha baby?
Get into the bus, Aloha
You're tearing us apart, Aloha baby

There's a place called The Promise Land,
It overlooks the ocean
With your own room and a lovely view
And a cure for your devotion

Last night I dreamt Aloha was floating,
Hanging like a picture in the skies over
New Jerusalem

You've crossed the line again
Your passion's an embarrassing thing
The crowd is laughing at us
So get into the bus, Aloha
When you lose control, Aloha
Where do you go, Aloha?

Hello in there.........

Get back into the bus, Aloha
Back into the bus, Aloha baby
Get into the bus, Aloha
Hula if you must, but get back into the bus
Aloha baby, Aloha baby mine
Aloha baby, Aloha baby mine

Loveland Lyrics

It's a different world, but it's still you and me
We've crossed the great divide,
And met the enemy
We've realized, we're still alive

Let's rest a little while
And dream we're bullet-proof
Slip in here, out of sight
From killers on the loose
So deep we're out of reach

In Loveland
Loveland, mmmm...
Loveland
Loveland, mmmm...

If we are wiser now
Deposed of all pretense
There was price to pay
In pride and innocence
Let's play pretend
We've got it back again

Call off the full eclipse
Plug in the harvest moon
We'll dig a passion pit
Dress up as bride and groom

What say we hide away

In Loveland
Loveland, mmmm...
Loveland
Loveland, mmmm...

Yes baby, shut the blinds
Make the moment last
Out there they got no time for ancient glories--
For thinkin' twice about
Dim advice from Two shadows of the past

We'll put Sinatra on--
(something that speaks the truth)--
Ignore the fears that lurk
Like snipers on the roof
No one's home
Unplug the phone

In Loveland
Loveland, mmmm...
Loveland
Loveland, mmmm...

My Hand to God Lyrics

There's a displacement in the air
Someone else is breathing
Tonight could be the night
I think I may be leaving
There's a slight pressure in my ear
Something here is moving
Never seen the moon so big and bright
Or had a dream this strangely soothing
It's good you're sleeping, baby
I won't wake you, sweetheart

My hand to God
I believe this is true
Beyond the dark gate I see here now
I'll be waiting for you
All we've dreaded and hoped for is here
What we both welcome and fear
I pray you don't despair
I'll always be near
My hand to God, my hand to God

We've both embraced the sobering truth:
It's a world without happy endings
Now it's as if the film has stopped
And real life is just beginning
You know I love you, sweetheart
See you again soon, baby

Well, it's easier than I thought it would be
My chest is full and singing with blood
You're the only reason I hesitate
But, it's like swimming against a flood
Be strong, sweetheart
Won't be long now, baby

Our Night to Howl, Time to Go Dancing Lyrics

Our night to howl, time to go dancing
Brush your hair, clean your dentures
It's time for new adventures
My toupee's on and I'm ready for romancing
Come on pretty baby, let's go a little crazy
Our night to howl, time to go dancing
Ain't nothing we can't handle,
Let's create a little scandal
Don't look surprised dear, all I'm 'askin'--
Are you game to take a chance
And put the ants back in our pants?
Maybe... win a ribbon when we cut the rug?
Do the 'nasty nellie' of the 'jitterbug'?
Skinny dip in Springfield
Pull a heist in Edwardsville?
Moon a cop, count the stars,
Put the kids back in the will?

The cows come home
when I see you in your moo-moo
You're the apple in my strudel,
The kit in my kaboodle
It's time to shift some gears,
Get our engines out of neutral--
Give the wheel a spin
Throw all caution to the wind
Our night to howl, time to go dancing
Turn up our hearing aids
And spike the lemonade
Pretend I'm filthy rich, young, and handsome
We'll ignore all convention,
Release some hot conviction

The hour's late and the time is holy
You're still my girl
My one and only

Whistling passed the graveyard
I think we're safe for now
And as long as we're not helpless, baby
Let's help ourselves to everything,
Everything that God allows

We'll teach those young punks
Just what class is
Honey, you still
Fog my glasses

Our night to howl, time to go dancing
Our night to howl, time to go dancing...

The Devil's Elbow Lyrics

There by the Sumac and the thicket of the evergreens
Carved our names next to the others in Pacific City beams
We passed the faded billboards and all those tumbleweed dreams
Now it's on the Devil's Elbow

Had a sizzilin Tbone, vegetable and fries
And a roll, fresh side salad for a buck twenty five
We can fill our bellies, watch the river rise
Down at the Devil's Elbow

We're tired of the waitresses when we quit
We'll lock the doors and that'll be it
No more chicken in a basket or chili supper benefits
In and out of the Devil's Elbow

Well lumberjacks gave it it's infamous name
The big Piny river hasn't been to blame
And the log jams are the only claim to fame
There at the Devil's Elbow

And it's a threat to the old folks and it's death to youth
Jammed up so bad you won't get loose
Your only escape is if you know the truth
When you get to the Devil's Elbow

There by the Sumac and the thicket of the evergreens
Carved our names next to the others in Pacific City beams
Passed the faded billboards and all those tumbleweed dreams
Now it's on the Devil's Elbow

The Glory Road Lyrics

Glad we're together on the Glory Road
We've seen some sights and we've had some laughs
Seen the ghosts of all them Okies,
Drinking Grape Nehi and wine made from the
Grapes of wrath

The ice cream stands and the salty truck stops
Hum Dingers and the auto graves
Coca Cola and the no-tell motels
Barber shops and Burma shaves

We'll beat the dust storms
Comin' over the farmlands
Got a grease monkey tunin' up the Pontiac
We imagine pickin' up soldiers
Comin' home for Christmas
With Steinbeck, and Guthrie, and Kerouac

We've explored the patchwork of Americana
The curios and the burger plates
We got a blessing from the Queen of the Highway,
Paid attention to a sign that said Jesus Saves

Sand traps, soft shoulders, wash out, deep ruts
Hustlers, cops and wrecker drivers
Sometimes the world's just got it out for us

Moonlight falls on The painted desert
Gershwin flows out of Our radio
I swear there will be Peace In the valley for Us, baby
Someday, peace for us
Peace in the valley for us, Baby, I swear, peace for us

Glad we're together on
The Glory Road
Hey, let's go crazy and thicken the plot
Can't back out now that we've paid our admission
There's just one exit from the Mystery Spot

We hit the Metro out in Tulsa
bought a steer horn at Pecan Joe's
Saw the blue whale in Catoosa
The reptile farm in Cuba, MO.

If at the end of the line there ain't no pot-of-gold,
Just the Santa Monica pier,
Well, we loved our biscuits and gravy
And learned to twirl a rope
And enjoyed what
We had while we were here

The Organ Bar Lyrics

Years ago, my friend Bob worked
Pacific Ocean Park
As a knife-wielding spook-house clown
And ran a booth with a bingo-playing-chicken Shocked by jolts
from concealed electric grids
Bob has since repented, now he's the cook and
The owner at a roadside greasy spoon diner
And if you're down on your luck,
Bob will feed you without charge
And treat you to some magic tricks

He says his dearest friend he calls The Ghost
Worked in a luggage factory
He was fired when they claimed his work was Oblique and unsatisfactory
He's missing, Bob says, branded as a spy,
But I prefer to believe
He's still working on the sly and

I've heard he's playing at an organ bar
I supposed I'm in denial
I dream that patrons crowd this organ bar
Expecting my arrival

Gloria's nineteen--was an L.A. whore
Who worked the south end of Sunset boulevard
Found in an alley in a drug-induced coma
Behind a Dunkin' Donuts
She says she left her body on the hospital table
And she hovered over it for awhile
Then she was bathed in light and a voice said
Gloria, you've still got some work to do

She awoke to a religious nut screaming on the t.v.
Strange words that made some sorta sense
And as she prayed, this spectre seeped through
The spaces in the hospital heating vents
And then it disappeared, but to this day
She swears it stole her heart away, and

She found him playing at the organ bar
She says she goes there for survival
Says I can reach her at the organ bar,
The number's in the Bible

I'm successfully concealed behind my pork pie hat, Fake beard, and dark sunglasses
Convinced them I've authored several
Supernatural thrillers
And doing research for my latest book
And as the sun goes down, a shadow is cast across Bob's drawn and troubled face
He rubs his eyes, and I leave,
But my shadow doesn't follow,
It's fond of Bob's hot joe

And every shadow in my suitcase is restless now
And each of them would prefer to remain
But they all have a different little slant on life
And they all answer to my name
And it would be nice if they found a home
But that won't happen 'til my cover's blown

And I've been working at the organ bar
The customers all love my style
They say I'm master of the organ bar
But me, I'm looking for revival

Turn This Off Lyrics

Too many empty heads
Cold hearts, eyes dead
Inert and inbred
Drugs guns and hot lead
Pierced, spiked and tattooed
Religious yahoo
Hot tempers, cheap booze
Nothin' here but bad news

The center can't hold now,
We don't have the know-how
Throw it in the hoosegow,
Jesus comin' anyhow

Booted up and head shaved
Merciless and enraged
Broke and brooding ingrates
Faithless, cunning inmates
Ferocious looking braggarts
Vacuous and hell-bent
Where are the plain folk,
The charitable and decent?
Where are the love songs?
I wonder where the joy went

Turn this off
Turn this off...

Too many empty heads
Cold hearts, eyes dead
Inert and inbred
Drugs guns and hot lead

The center can't hold now,
We don't have the know-how
Throw it in the hoosegow,
Jesus comin' anyhow

Booted up and head shaved
Merciless and enraged
Broke and brooding ingrates
Faithless, cunning inmates

Last days, last chance
Too late to turn around
If this is all in plain sight,
What about the Underground?

Where are the plain folk,
The charitable and decent?
Where are the love songs?
I wonder where the joy went
Turn this off
Turn this off
Turn this off

Uneasy Lies the Head of the Confidence Man Lyrics

Through hoops and secret panels
Down the Slip-n-Slide
Faith finds a way to the other side

But you are tempted to be clever
This seems to do the trick
Pick a number, you've got a thousand schticks

But certain crowds are tough
Someone has called your bluff
Your timing's out of step
You drown in your own sweat

You've become a fire-walker
And work the center ring
But you never learn to walk on water
'Cos you can't pull any strings

They pardon you when you leave
A few cards up your sleeve

You wear a beard, a magic turban
Charm & hypnotize
Handle snakes, take flying carpet rides

Trap doors and wires, smoke and mirrors--
(tools of the wonder trade)--
False-bottom trunks conceal the big charade

It's taken years to learn
How not to crash and burn
There's little glory in
Just learning how to swim

You conceal, misdirect
Disappear, stack the deck

Jump and tumble, hurdy gurdy
That's the Confidence Man
A little truth, a little sleight of hand

Sometimes we grasp the truth
When we have lost our youth
Sometimes we live and die
Still clinging to a lie

Someone's laughing, someone knows
You're not wearing any clothes

Still I am tempted to be clever
This seems to do the trick

When Everyone Wore Hats Lyrics

Here's to the long-lost world of
Chain-smoking dreamers
War and baseball heroes
Ticker tape and streamers,
Cocktail drinkers, Bible believers
When light was still filling up a
New York river

They knew the grace of tradition
Possessed a love of decorum
Shook the hand of conviction
No one complained then of boredom

When everyone wore hats
They dreamed of ocean voyages
Believed in true romance
Found their hearts and voices

Here's to the long lost hopes of
Those mothers and fathers
Of rags to riches
Of style and manners
To the American dream in a
Pledge to honor
Promises made to their
Sons and daughters

Threw off the chains of depression
Built up the arms of aggression
Left us a mixed impression
Some died before they learned their lesson

When everyone wore hats
In the land of immigrants and pilgrims
The world came rolling off their backs
And landed on their children's

They knew the grace of tradition
Possessed a love of decorum
Shook the hand of conviction
No one complained then of boredom

When everyone wore hats
And innocence found simple pleasures
They built the cities, drew the maps
With clues to find their buried treasures

When everyone wore hats
And handed down their pride and prejudice
They dropped good fortune in our laps
We traded it for vice and avarice

When everyone wore hats
Would-be kings with ragged crowns
They say the style is coming back
What's out-of-fashion comes around

Uncertain where the road was leading
But trusting God was on their side
They traced the moral chain of being
And filmed it all in black and white

And everyone wore hats...

Your Hidden Hand Lyrics

Down the road we take
Lord, keep us wide awake
Up the hills and 'round the bends
Among the strangers and the friends
Keep our eyes wide open
As we travel across the land
Keep our eyes wide open
May we see Your hidden hand.

Down the valley deep
Don't visit us with sleep
But bring us safely through
and then back home to you
And Keep our eyes wide open
Blessing all that we have planned
It's to hear what you have spoken
May we see Your hidden hand.

From sea to shining sea
As we gather memories
And mile upon each mile
Through the good times and through the trials
Keep our eyes wide open
As we travel across the land
Keep our eyes wide open
May we see Your hidden hand.
And Keep our eyes wide open
Blessing all that we have planned
It's to hear what you have spoken
May we see Your hidden hand.

May we see Your hidden hand.
