I always wanted to be a cowboy,
And ride along the hot and dusty trail
Out on the open prairie that's never ending,
Breathing sweet country air

At night I'd watch the stars and wonder,
Take out my guitar and play a song
It gave me a genuine peaceful feeling,
That kept on and on and on, it kept on

As I ride off into the setting sun,
I thank the good Lord for all He's done
For all the blessings that He's given me
And how He came, and made me free
